Odysseus
This painting is primarily a reflection on the nature of desire, restraint and confinement. The protagonist is pictured literally in a self imposed lockdown; roped to the mast of The Argos, wrestling with the supernatural forces of The Sirens whose song and form are represented by streaks of tantalising yellow, turquoise and blue, a wash on a white sea in an anonymous landscape, far from home.
