Marat’s arm twice

I live in Greece, which for me is home and paradise, and I have no desire to be anywhere else — other than in my mind, through the inner landscape and image of poetry and painting.  This work takes the image of the murdered Marat in his bath from Jacques-Louis David’s depiction, repeats it, and reconfigures it as a distant image, of perhaps a sailor in a boat on the open sea at night. The metaphoric or dream journey is both to the history of painting, and to the death of revolution.
