Confidentiality Policy

1. The Chaplains provide confidential pastoral support to both staff and students

2. Any information relating to that support is kept securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998

3. Information will not normally be disclosed to any person or any body outside the Chaplaincy and their line managers, unless:
a) the student/staff member gives consent to do so, or
b) we are required to do so by law, or
c) it is considered that there is a serious risk of harm to the student/staff member or a third party if information is not disclosed

4. Chaplains will normally make every effort to discuss with the student/staff member the perceived need to disclose and inform them of a proposed disclosure in advance wherever possible
